Warm Weather, Drought Tolerant green grass.

As the North Carolina drought looks to be more and more severe and the popularity of our area brings more and more people the need to conserve has never been greater. However, we need not give up one of the most important aspects of being a proud homeowner, that of a beautiful green lawn.

Currently approximately 90% of area lawns are turf type tall fescue (TTTF), a type of grass that requires copious amounts of water during hot dry weather in order to survive, making it a huge drain on our water resources and forcing the dreaded "water restrictions" to be imposed. Fescue is becoming a dying breed in more ways than one.

Science has now developed a new breed of grass that actually thrives during the hottest part of the summer and does not become invasive like warm season bermuda grass. Zoysia grass is quickly being viewed as the answer to our restrictive water environment as well as a very environmentally sensitive product.

Zoysia needs 1/3 the water that tall fescue needs.
Zoysia needs 1/3 the chemicals that TTTF needs. It's root structure is so thick that weeds cannot find a spot to grow so environmentally damaging herbicides, pesticides, and insecticides are not needed.
Zoysia gets mowed 1/3 as often as TTTF reducing the need to fire up the lawnmower every week.
Zoysia goes dormant (turns white) in the winter and requires zero maintenance.
Zoysia "self sows" and repairs itself each season eliminating the need to reseed every fall. Zoysia naturally resists fungal disease eliminating the use of dangerous fungicides.

Add it up and the results are overwhelming in favor of Zoysia. Less water, less chemicals, less work, and best of all it looks like a perfect ocean of green all summer long. Hot and dry will no longer make you look outside wondering if the lawn is going to make it. With Zoysia you can look outside knowing that your lawn will look great and the environment will be better off.
